David Wilson Associates - Background

The Practice was established by David and Maureen Wilson in February 1992.  This followed David’s degree qualifications in Landscape Architecture and Business Studies and a subsequent successful career in both private practices and Local Authority which gave him the basis of experience required to run David Wilson Associates.

It began with the two working from home with the traditional drawing board and a small core of private sector clients.  Over the years the practice grew and developed to the point where additional assistant designers and a move to an independent office in Glasgow were required.  Particularly specialising in the Housing Sector, the practice continued to grow until another move was required to accommodate the expansion and ambition of the company.  A move to Hamilton was chosen rather than to remain in the City as it was felt that there was an advantage to this central Scotland location rather than an association with Glasgow alone.  This has proved to be the case as the practice’s workload now covers the whole of Scotland and the north of England.

The principle behind all of the work that this Practice undertakes (and our Mission Statement) is:

To protect the environment for future generations by ensuring that the needs of this one are met in a sustainable manner.

The Practice achieves this by using design-based skills and an understanding of the natural and man-made processes to resolve the problems of its clients.
